Skin is not static — it changes throughout your life, and so does the way it holds pigment. After a long period without a touch-up, it is completely normal for the colour to need refreshing. This does not mean anything went wrong. It simply means your skin has evolved. Some clients come to me once a year. Others every two years. Some even less frequently. It is entirely down to your individual skin — its oiliness, how it ages, your lifestyle and sun exposure. I always assess each client fresh at every appointment rather than applying a fixed rule. My job is to read your skin honestly and tell you exactly what it needs — and what it does not.

Who is ideal for brow PMU?
Brow tattoo is suitable for a wide range of clients. If you recognise yourself in any of the following, brow PMU is very likely the right treatment for you.
Oily skin note: PMU on oily skin retains differently and may require more regular touch-ups. This is not a reason to avoid the treatment — it is simply important to have realistic expectations. I will assess your skin at consultation and recommend the right technique for you.
- Active acne, eczema or psoriasis in the brow area
- Sunburned or irritated skin in the treatment area
- Recent Botox within 2 weeks near the brow area
- Chemical peels, laser or microneedling within 4 weeks
- Retinol or AHA use within 2 weeks on the brow area
- You have previously had brow tattooing that has changed colour — old pigment may affect results
- You have very oily skin — technique and expectations need to be discussed
- You have thyroid conditions — these can affect pigment retention
- You are on topical steroids near the brow area

Who is ideal for lip blush?
Lip blush is one of the most transformative treatments I offer. It is suitable for most people — but requires the most careful preparation of all.
Cold sore history: Having a history of cold sores does not stop you having lip blush. It means we prepare properly — antivirals started 5 days before. This is non-negotiable and fully manageable. Read the full guide here →
- Active cold sore on the day of treatment
- Lip filler within 6 weeks (ideally 8)
- Active herpes outbreak anywhere on the face
- Dry, cracked, chapped or sunburned lips
- Recent chemical peel or laser near the lip area
- You have a history of cold sores — antiviral protocol required
- You have had lip filler — wait time and timing to be confirmed
- You have had previous lip PMU that has shifted colour
- You have very thin or severely dehydrated lips — preparation needed
Lip blush with cold sore history is absolutely possible. I do it regularly and the results are beautiful when the protocol is followed. The key is preparation — which I will guide you through completely.
Who is ideal for laser removal?
Laser removal is suitable for most healthy adults wanting to remove or fade tattoo or PMU work. It is a process — multiple sessions are always required.
Dark skin tones: Some lasers carry higher risk of pigmentation changes on darker skin. I will assess your skin tone at consultation and discuss the safest approach for you before any treatment begins.
- Tanned, sunburned or recently sun-exposed skin in the area (4 weeks)
- Active skin infection or open wounds in the treatment area
- Photosensitising medication being taken currently
- Recent tattoo that has not fully healed
- History of keloid scarring — risk of adverse response
- You have a darker skin tone — specialist assessment needed
- You have autoimmune conditions — healing may be affected
- You are on blood-thinning medication
- You have had Accutane / Isotretinoin recently
- You have unrealistic expectations of complete removal — some ink colours are more stubborn than others
Saline vs Laser: Saline solution is best for emergency removal within 24–48 hours and works on all ink colours. Laser is more effective for complete removal over time — sessions spaced 8 weeks apart. I will recommend the best approach for your specific situation at consultation.
Who is ideal for areola restoration?
Areola and nipple restoration tattooing is one of the most meaningful treatments I offer. It is paramedical work — requiring clinical precision and deep empathy in equal measure. If you are considering this treatment, here is what you need to know.
Timing after surgery: I require that reconstruction is fully healed before we begin — generally a minimum of 3–6 months post-surgery, depending on your surgeon’s clearance. Please discuss timing with your surgical team and share any relevant notes with me. Your safety always comes first.
- Reconstruction is not yet fully healed
- Active infection or open wound in the treatment area
- Currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Active skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis) in the area
- Blood-thinning medication without medical clearance
- Surgical clearance from your surgeon that the area is healed and suitable for tattooing
- Information about any implants, tissue expanders or ongoing treatment
- Any medications you are currently taking
- Photos of the area so I can plan the design in advance
